It is also very helpful in situation where suicide is seen as hope to come out from a depression. When situations are on a helpless mode, that is the only time that ECT is used since it’s effects are not yet fully studied.

Acupuncture helps in aiding people with depression by its capability to make the body produce greater level of endorphins which makes the body produce a feeling of well-being. Exercise works by producing physiological effects that help counter depression. It is also helpful in lowering stress which can be a factor for depression. And finally, music therapy helps by the ability of music to induce different set of moods. Studies have shown that there are certain parts parts of the brain particularly the sub-cortical centers that are reached by music. This helps depression by breaking off unhealthy emotions.
